How We Do It
Every IMEM product supplied by MTVT incorporates multiple layers of energy-saving and sustainability technology.
IMEM's permanent magnet gearless motors eliminate the gearbox entirely. Without the mechanical losses of a gear train, these motors convert electrical energy to motion with exceptional efficiency — consuming up to 50% less energy than conventional geared traction drives of equivalent capacity.
When an elevator decelerates or a lightly loaded car descends, the motor acts as a generator. IMEM's regenerative drive captures this braking energy — which would otherwise be wasted as heat — and feeds it back into the building's electrical grid. In a busy commercial building, this can account for up to 30% of the lift's total energy consumption being returned to the grid.
During periods of low or no traffic, IMEM lifts automatically enter a standby or sleep state, dimming cabin lighting, reducing ventilation and placing the drive in a low-power mode. The lift returns to full operation instantly when a call is registered, with no perceptible delay for passengers.
All IMEM lift cabins are fitted with LED lighting as standard. LED technology consumes up to 80% less energy than traditional fluorescent or incandescent cabin lighting, generates significantly less heat (reducing air conditioning load) and has a service life many times longer — reducing maintenance frequency and waste.
By integrating the drive unit directly into the shaft, MRL technology eliminates the need for a dedicated machine room. This reduces the total building footprint required for the elevator installation, lowers construction material use, and removes the need to heat, cool and light a separate machine room — delivering ongoing energy savings throughout the building's life.
